Worship Ministry Staff

Cheylin Adkins,
Worship and Music Ministry Assistant

A graduate of Henry Clay High School, and the University of KY, Cheylin grew up as part of the Centenary family. She assists with all facets of worship ministries, print publication, correspondence, worship planning, produces the weekly worship bulletin, manages the school of music, and participates in worship leadership as a guitarist and vocalist. Cheylin also provides leadership and administrative support for the youth choir program.

Phil Jackson,
Worship and Technologies Associate

Phil Jackson provides worship leadership, musical support, and coordinates Centenary's sound and video technology ministry areas. An exceptional keyboardist and vocalist, Phil brings a tremendous heart for Christ and a passion for the power of worship as a means for personal healing and renewal. Phil is an ordained pastor, and his prior experience includes 10 years as Worship Pastor for Great Commission Fellowship in Wilmore, KY.

Katie Kerns, Director of Music for Children

Katie Kerns coordinates musical activities for children ages three years through fifth grade and directs the King's Kids Choir. She holds a bachelors degree in vocal performance from the University of Kentucky and brings a heart for leading kids to Christ through worship and musical experiences.

Rob Vanover, Organist/Music & Worship Associate

Rob Vanover is in his fourth year as a full-time choral music faculty member at Lexington Catholic High School and his first year as Organist/Music & Worship Associate at Centenary United Methodist Church. Previously, he has held many positions as a choral conductor and accompanist. Included among these are Organist/Choir Director of Woodland Christian Church from 2000-2007, Director of Music Ministries at St. Peter Church from 2006-2009, accompanist for the University of Kentucky Women's Choir from 2000-2007, staff accompanist at Georgetown College for 2006-2007, and studio accompanist for the Voice Studio of Gail Robinson at UK from 2001-2007. In addition he is currently Organist/Choir Director for the Lexington Latin Mass Community and accompanist for the Lexington Singers Children's Choir. Mr. Vanover earned the Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance from the University of Kentucky and is currently finishing the Master of Music in Sacred Music.
