Wednesday Night Experience

Wednesday Night Experience Starting each fall on the first Wednesday after Labor Day, there is a tradition at Centenary that we invite you to enjoy as we continue into this season of discipleship. This tradition is the mid-week night at Centenary, now called "wnX" -- Wednesday Night Experience! For as long as we can remember, this has been such an important part of the life of our church -- a time for great fellowship with friends, a wonderful meal at a great price, amazing opportunities for our children to worship and learn with each other, and the chance for adults to study, sing and share together through a variety of activities and discipleship courses. There really is nothing like "wnX" to keep us fired up for God all week long! Some of these are continuing opportunities which you may join at any time; others are new opportunities ... take a look!

For Adults

Ephesians: John Criswell

The Ephesian church was a small group of believers who were just trying to make sense of their faith in the Jewish Messiah. They were surrounded by competing philosophies and the ever-present Roman Empire. Though Paul had been with them for several years, it was all so new that he often had to repeat some of the more essential teachings just to strengthen and encourage them. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is a magisterial description of God’s purposes for the world and for these new believers. He helps them understand what God is up to in this world and how they fit into it. He describes a new way of living that directly challenged the world the Ephesian believers lived in. Come and be stirred by Paul’s message to them. It was all about God forming a new community of truth who experienced a "foretaste of glory divine" here and now. By joining this study, you will feel just as encouraged and strengthened as our brothers and sisters in Ephesus. Room 33.

Prayer Opportunity Breakouts

We are offering opportunities to experience the breakout sessions from our recent Prayer Summit. A different breakout will be offered from 6:30-7:30pm each Wednesday in Room 35:

  • April 16: Prayer Through Art, with Margie Criswell
Women’s Bible Study: Loving Well with Beth Moore

Beth Moore"Some people are a joy to love, some are difficult to love, and we all have to deal with some people who are humanly impossible to love. In all those relationships one truth endures: We will never be able to love others well until we have been loved well. And only God can ultimately give us the complete love we so desperately need." Loving Well includes hard-hitting truths as well as humor, all designed to help women experience the love of God, embrace the biblical mandate to love, and to develop skills for loving others. Join Mary Lou and Jeannie for this four-week video driven study beginning on Sunday, April 6 at 5:15pm in Room 35. Cost: $6.

All women please register by calling 269-2800 ext. 506 no later than Friday, March 28. Please specify ages of children requiring care. A nominal fee will be charged for this service.

For Children

We begin each Wednesday night with a fun worship time together and a dramatic skit/story followed by choir and creative small group time.

Kids will continue this year on their journey through the Bible as they learn in many ways how to apply Scripture to their daily lives.

  • 6:15-6:40 -- Opening in the Chapel -- Worship/Skit/Scripture learning
  • 6:45-7:05 -- Children's Choirs -- in graded choir rooms
  • 7:10-7:30 -- Small groups (in individual rooms with small group leader)
In addition to our regular activities each week, we will be having Dress-up Theme Nights and Fun Nights with Pastor Mark, and other surprises throughout the year.

Centenary loves kids and there is no more compelling witness to the value of this than by joining our volunteer team on Wednesday nights. If you love kids, and would like to Xperience a ministry that is fun as well as eternally rewarding, please contact Stephanie Hall by clicking on the following icon:
