Jeff Carter Associate Pastor
Rev. Jeff Carter was appointed to Centenary in June 2009. He most recently served as pastor of Faith United Methodist Church, Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jeff was ordained as a Deacon in the former Louisville Conference in 1989 and as an Elder in 1993. He began his ministry at the age of nineteen as a part-time youth director for six years while in college and seminary. While in seminary, Jeff had an internship as assistant campus minister at the University of Louisville. Jeff has served as pastor of several United Methodist Churches in western and southwestern Kentucky, consisting of both rural and suburban congregations. He also served as an associate pastor at Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in downtown Louisville.
Jeff formerly served at the Conference level as a member of the Bishop's Initiative on Children and Poverty and currently serves on the Conference New Church and Congregational Development. Jeff has served on the district level as a District Committee on Ministry Registrar and a member of the District Leadership Team.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Louisville and The Southern Baptist Seminary. He participated in The Institute for Advanced Church Leadership which is a three year, non-degree program, through Asbury Seminary.
Jeff is married to his high school sweetheart, Denise (Elswick), a special education teacher. They have two children: Nathan is a freshman and attends the University of Kentucky Honors Program as a Presidential Scholarship recipient; Kristen is a high school Junior at Lafayette High School. .
Jeff enjoys playing golf and watching UK Wildcat basketball.
