Visitation

Hospital Visitation

Hospital Visitation It is such a privilege to visit someone in the hospital. For some, being in a hospital is uncomfortable. That is understandable. However, it is also our opportunity to go outside our comfort zone and bring joy to another individual. Often those in the hospital have medical visitors. It is nice to have someone that is coming to bring encouragement and prayer.

As a hospital visitation volunteer, you would be assigned to a person and follow them through their hospital stay. Most individuals are not kept in the hospital very long these days. You would stop by the hospital and visit and then, after they have gone home, follow up with either a phone call or a home visit. If they are there several days, more than one visit may be appropriate.

You may volunteer to take one or more assignments for the month. You are welcome to give preferences on days that are good for you or any other details that may be helpful to us. There is a possibility that you will be called on the day the person is in the hospital. We don't always have advance notice. On some occasions, we do know ahead of time.

Homebound Visitation

Caring for our members It is not unusual for individuals to give years of time and talent to our church and then reach a stage of life that makes it challenging to attend any church activities. We want to bring the love of Centenary to them! Homebound visitation may include folks on a short term basis as they are recovering from a medical procedure. It may be on a long term basis those that live in a retirement center or home and are unable to get out. Your ministry to these families can be short term or long term and may include cards, visits, prayers and other forms of encouragement. For those in a retirement center or at home long term, a contact each month would be wonderful. We also have folks taking homebound communion on the first Sunday of each month to those that are willing to receive it.

If you want to volunteer for visitation, please contact Joy Anna (see link below).

Meal Ministry

We launched a Meal Ministry in 2003 that has helped several families. If you would be willing to take a meal to a family that is in a difficult season, please contact Janet (see link below). We always want to offer folks coming home from the hospital or those undergoing medical treatments, etc. some home cooked meals. It is such a blessing to bring that food prepared in love to someone in need.
