- THE PRAYER MINISTRY VISION TEAM
A team of persons spent a year praying and studying what the Bible says about prayer. One of the most important things that we learned is that God has chosen to partner with us, His people, through prayer, to accomplish His purposes on earth. It is very clear in Scripture that there are some things God will not do unless we pray. When we start setting goals for prayer ministries we will look for ways to teach you about prayer and to provide many opportunities for you to participate in prayer. The Bible tells us to pray for others, to pray for our leaders, to pray for our pastors and missionaries, to pray for the lost and for laborers to go to the lost. We will give you opportunities to be obedient to these commands. The Bible also says that we are to pray for those who are suffering and sick. Many of you have needs that only the power of God can solve. Prayer is the means to accessing that power. We want to come alongside you, combining our faith with yours, calling on the power of God to intervene in your life to bring you to a place of wholeness.
To fulfill the goals that will come out of the Prayer Vision process, we will need many people willing to be obedient to the Word of God and willing to sacrifice for others in order to pray down God's will on earth. We have been praying for a great army of intercessors to be raised up in this church, and we believe many of you are hearing that call. Jesus said that the church is to be a house of prayer. We encourage each of you to prayerfully consider how you can help make that a reality at Centenary.
- PRAYER REQUEST CARDS
In the racks beneath the pews, there are cards reserved for prayer requests (in addition to the registration cards). Each request that is placed in the offering plate is prayed for daily by a volunteer for three consecutive weeks and is kept strictly confidential. Any concerns that you would like included on a published churchwide prayer list can now be designated for that purpose by checking the appropriate box. Boxes are located throughout the church to collect prayer request cards at times other than worship on Sunday. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, "Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Our prayer card ministry is one way Centenary seeks to make this happen for you!
- PRAYER ROOM
This sacred space is located just off the chapel, facing the courtyard. The Prayer Room is available for private or small group prayer meetings during the hours the church is open. During each of our Sunday morning services, a person is scheduled to be in the Prayer Room to pray.
