Creation Care

Creation Care seeks to arouse God's people to our Christian obligation to be good stewards
of the Lord's creation (land, people & resources). Creation Care includes education plus action to serve as a witness to the world of God's presence, as well as to change people’s hearts and ultimately, their lives in relation to God's world. Creation Care encompasses the following:

Community Garden - five beds for gardens and one "garden on legs" located at the corner of the parking lot on the Mt. Tabor Road entrance to the church. Produce is shared through the Garden Mission Exchange or with local ministries. Email Michael to help with the community garden.

Fresh Stop - a partnership with the Fresh Stop Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program at First Presbyterian Church, Lexington. CSA members get a weekly basket of fresh, local produce they pick up at the Centenary as well as make produce available at a discounted price for families in need in the Lexington downtown community. Involves a weekly fee and registration is in the Spring.

Recycling- bins for cans, plastic, paper and printer ink cartridges are located throughout the church building.
Gleaning with Faith Feeds - the traditional Biblical practice of gathering crops that would otherwise be left in the fields to rot or be plowed under after harvest. Faith Feeds works with farmers' markets, orchards and others to glean any excess food the producers would like to donate. Volunteers are needed to pick up the food at the markets and deliver it to an emergency food agency.
