Seniors of Centenary (SOCS)

Centenary's Lively Seniors
 STATEMENT OF MISSION
To cultivate both Christian growth and fellowship among fellow older adults. The desire of Christ-like behavior and service shall be fostered and developed through monthly meetings, trips, and service to the church and community.

Centenary is so fortunate to have a large number of older adults. Often referred to as SOC'S (Seniors of Centenary), these mature Christians have a wealth of real experience to share. Maturity is a blessed gift from God and this blessing can be a strength to the foundation of the church. People of all ages need to express their faith, ideas and attitudes in an atmosphere of acceptance and love.

If you are 55 years or older, SOC'S extends a warm welcome to you to participate in the many activities and ministries of this group. If you desire to know more about SOC'S, please contact
Keene Howard, staff representatiave for SOCS (269-2800 ext. 273). Individual annual dues of $5 help defray operating expenses.

Monthly Meetings
SOC'S monthly meetings are held in the Fellowship Hall of the Church on the third Friday of each month at 10:30 A. M. Occasionally evening meetings are held to accommodate those still working. A delicious meal is provided by the Church Culinary Service at a nominal cost that follows a business meeting and program. Lunch reservations are necessary. Programs include a variety of topical subjects presented by community leaders as well as uplifting musical presentations.

Travel
One of the most popular activities of SOC'S has been the many trips taken each year. Great times of fellowship are enjoyed by SOC'S members on tours far and near. These trips ensure safe travel on a tour bus with a competent driver, comfortable lodging and delicious meals.

A variety of trips are offered. They include everything from one day trips to the Derby Dinner Theater in Louisville, Grand Night for Singing at the Singletary Center and a mystery trip to longer trips that have taken the group all over the United States and other countries.

Upcoming Activities: 2012
Christmas in the Valley, an orignial stage production at Renfro Vallley on December 1.

Outreach
Not only does SOC'S provide a vital extended family for its members, but also provides an outreach to the community. Funds raised by special activities support generous contributions annually to organizations such as The Versailles Methodist Children's Home, Wesley Methodist Village and many others throughout Central Kentucky.
