Blood Donation Ministry

  • Tradition
  • Service
  • Medical expertise
  • Safety
  • Putting the needs of the community first
These have been the cornerstones of Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) since its founding in 1968 by the Fayette County Medical Society (now the Lexington Medical Society).

Blood Donor CKBC is a community-based, non-profit blood center serving 67 hospitals and clinics located in 59 central and eastern Kentucky counties. CKBC operates four donation centers in Lexington, Somerset, Pikeville, and Prestonsburg.

Bringing convenience to the donor, CKBC conducts nearly 1,700 mobile blood drives each year in partnership with local business, hospitals, schools, churches and community groups. A staff of more than 200 dedicated employees work and live in the communities served by CKBC. Around the clock, CKBC serves as the steward of the blood supply, ensuring its safety and availability for anyone in need.
