Letter from our new Senior Pastor

Dear Friends of Centenary,
God bless you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Two months ago, I received word from Bishop Lindsey Davis that Cheryl and I would be appointed to Centenary in Lexington. Since that time we have been excited about the prospects for ministry at Centenary and have looked forward to our arrival. As the time draws near our excitement continues to grow. All along we have been warmly welcomed and well-received. In a very real way, we already feel at home.
I have found Centenary to be marked by a strong love for Christ and a deep desire to minister in His name. On the night Cheryl and I met with the Staff-Parish Relations Committee we both noticed the great beehive of activity around the church. It was clear that a good deal of ministry was taking place. I am invigorated by that sort of thing and look forward to diving in with you.
All through this time of transition, I have been struck by the fact that you have been praying fervently for this next chapter in the life of the church. We appreciate your prayers for our family. They have clearly sustained us and will form the foundation for a strong start. Thanks for your willingness to give of yourselves in this way.
I am honored to be your pastor. I am thankful for the strong legacy left by David Thomas and others who served before him. I appreciate the faithful efforts of lay leaders that have brought us to this point, particularly those on the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. You can be proud of the good work they have done. I am also thankful for a strong and very capable staff that has stood in the gap during an extended time of transition.
June 21st will soon be here and the Griebs can't wait. Cheryl and I look forward to meeting you. We look forward to joining hand in hand with you in ministry. I am convinced that God has good things ahead. I look forward to those things unfolding as together we minister in His name.
Please be assured of my prayers.
Sincerely,
Tom Grieb
